Boillot's 1992 Batard-Montrachet exhibits a huge nose of honeyed fruit and a long, glycerin-dominated, alcoholic yet super-rich finish. With sensational depth, as well as tremendously fat, thick, ripe flavors, and low acidity, tasting it is like tasting a big, juicy, buttery piece of candy. It should keep for 4-5 years.
Jean-Marc Boillot has become an important domaine for white burgundy enthusiasts as the vineyards formerly leased to Domaine Sauzet have reverted back to Boillot's control. The 1992s are the best wines I have tasted from Jean-Marc - rich, authoritatively flavored, luscious white burgundies for drinking over the next 5-6 years.
