While the wine is estate-bottled, the current generation at Domaine Parent has a negociant mentality.
This famous firm, founded in 1650, has one of the highest reputations in Burgundy. It produced a bevy of 1964s and 1966s that I cut my teeth on when discovering Burgundy in the late sixties. Today, the style of the wine is less impressive and more commercial, with the emphasis on turning out soft, alcoholic, somewhat diffuse wines from over 60 acres of vineyards (mostly in Pommard) that all have similar tastes and personalities. This is a wine to drink over the next 4-5 years.
