This blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon does not bear the usual DiStefano label; rather it is a simple design with plain text and the winery’s name in small type at the bottom. Apparently meant to emulate a homemade Zinfandel, it actually comes pretty close, although there isn’t a drop of Zin in the blend. But it’s sharp and spicy, tannic with a hint of green stem, and just the sort of wine that would slide down well with a slice of pizza.——P.G.(12/31/2007)—— 84
