Tasted blind at Farr Vintners Kumeu/White Burgundy tasting. The 2007 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru les Pucelles from Drouhin has a soft, slightly buttery bouquet with white flowers and almond scents developing in the glass, but not attaining the subtle complexity of (what transpired to be) the Kumeu River Hunting Hill 2007. The palate is fresh with a lime and green apple opening, nicely weighted with a harmonious, marine-influenced, Chablis-like finish. This is a sophisticated Chardonnay with a longer future ahead than other white Burgundy 2007s recently encountered.
