The 2010 Ayvgystys Chardonnay comes from the same vineyard, with four and a half months aging in new French oak. It has a well-defined, subtle almond and hazelnut-scented bouquet reminiscent of a fine Meursault. The palate is well-balanced, with touches of dried orange peel and toffee apple on the entry. It has very good acidity and impressive focus towards the finish, where the oak is nicely integrated, content to take a back seat role. This is a well-crafted Chardonnay. Svperb. (Ha Ha!). Drink now-2015.
I am unsure about this winery’s aversion to the letter “u,” but they produce two commendable white dry Penedes wines.
