The 1999 Cabernet Franc may turn out to be outstanding, although it is quite herbaceous. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of cedar wood, Provencal herbs, bay leaves, and blackberry/plum-like fruit. The wine is medium to full-bodied, with a creamy entry and mid-palate, but finishes with astringent tannin. We'll see how it evolves in barrel. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2012.
