Bernard Morey makes lusty white burgundies, even in lighter or more diluted vintages, so readers should be prepared for some whoppingly intense, rich, dramatically flavored wines in 1989. I have fabulous notes on the 1989 Chassagne Montrachet-Les Caillerets, a spectacularly rich, intense wine, with more definition than many wines from what is obviously an opulent, super-ripe, highly concentrated vintage. Loaded with buttery popcorn-like fruit, the wine possessed a thick texture in the mouth, and plenty of alcohol and glycerin in its nearly viscous finish. Drink this blockbuster Chardonnay over the next decade.Importer: Vineyard Brands, Chester, VT.
