The dark ruby/purple-hued 1997 La Gioia (100% Sangiovese) offers intriguing smoky, toasty aromas mixed with jammy red and black fruits. Plump and fat, with low acidity, and exceptional richness and symmetry, this large wine offers plenty of muscle, glycerin, and concentration. Approachable already, it promises to evolve and improve for 4-5 years, and last for 12-15 years.
