The 2004 Son Negre is a blend of 90% Callet and 10% Fogoneu from 40- to 60-year-old bush vines with microscopic yields. It was then aged 16 months in new French oak. Dark ruby in color, the wine has a remarkable nose of cedar, spice, earth, coffee, chocolate, and red currants. Its velvety palate feel is reminiscent of great Burgundy, suave elegance combined with great concentration. These wines have no track record for ageability but surely this brilliant effort can be drunk with pleasure over the next 10+ years.Importer: Winebow Inc., Montvale, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620
