The 2005 Brunello di Montalcino Clandestino is a touch darker, firmer and fresher than the regular bottling. It, too, possesses outstanding overall balance. Violets, plums, minerals and spices are some of the aromas and flavors that make an appearance in the glass. Today the tannins come across as a touch firm, and another year or two in bottle can only do the Clandestino good. The Clandestino spends about six months longer in French oak than the regular bottling. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022. Pinino is a small estate located in the Montosoli district with vineyards in Montosoli itself and in Canchi, which lies to the north-east of the town of Montalcino.
