According to Haan's importer, the proprietor was "embarrassed" by how big his 2000 Shiraz turned out, but it carries its 15.2% alcohol well. Aged in French oak (one-third new), this opaque purple-colored 2000 possesses superb intensity, a fabulous texture, multiple layers that lead to an unctuous finish, and lavishly rich blackberry and cassis fruit nicely touched by subtle French oak. I was impressed by how well-balanced this deep, profound blockbuster was for its size. The finest effort I have yet tasted from Haan, it should drink well for 10-15+ years.Importer: Benjamin Hammerschlag, Epicurean Wines, Seattle, WA; tel. (206) 923-1376
