The 2001 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Colline Teramane Riserva Neromoro (a mouthful of a name, but Colline Teramane, a newly recognized sub-zone of superior level, is worth looking for) offers strong competition to important names in the region, jammy, spicy, and penetrating in aroma, lush but very focused and layered on the palate, firm but with an irresistible light-graininess which keep the alcohol and ripeness from getting out of hand. Mouth-filling and broad, it offers at least a dozen years of pure pleasure for the future.
