Matt Trevisan has begun blending his Zinfandel with other components, and he has achieved noteworthy success with the 2003 Problem Child, a blend of 68% Zinfandel, 17% Syrah, and 15% Mourvedre. Its sumptuous bouquet of figs, plums, black currants, and raspberries is followed by a deep ruby/purple-hued, full-bodied wine displaying spicy/earthy/garrigue, pepper, and licorice characteristics. Drink this complex, seductive 2003 now and over the next 7-8 years. As I have written over the last several years, Linne Calodo is a name to take seriously as it represents a reference point for what can be achieved in California’s Central Coast.Tel. (805) 227-0797
