The 2002 Chien Lunatique is a blend of 93% Syrah and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon aged completely in 500 liter oak puncheons. One of the sexiest offerings in B and H’s seductive portfolio, it boasts a dense purple color as well as sumptuous aromas of charcoal-infused blackberry and cassis fruit, an unctuous texture, great fat and richness, low acidity, and sweet tannin. Already impossible to resist, it should drink beautifully for 6-8 years. I admire what Les Behrens, Bob Hitchcock, their wives, friends, and lunatic dog are doing at their winery and cellars on the top of Spring Mountain.
