The 2015 Taffetà is a pure expression of Colorino, and like its name suggests, the grape brings forth a dark and saturated color. In fact, Colorino is traditionally blended with Sangiovese and other indigenous grapes of Tuscany to improve the appearance of those wines. This monovarietal expression delivers an inky color and a rather neutral bouquet with black fruit and mild spice. There is plenty of power, richness and concentration here, spread over a medium to full-bodied texture. Fattoria Poggiopiano has done a great job of taming the wild side of this native grape.
