Also superb, the 2011 Cotes du Rhone Villages Visan Terre Pourpre checks in as a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre that was aged mostly in old foudre. Medium-bodied, silky and polished, with complex notes of currants, blackberry, licorice, underbrush and hints of flowers, it will age nicely for upward of a decade.
These are all classy, beautifully made efforts that are worth seeking out.
