The opaque black/purple-colored 1999 Cuvee des Galets (60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 20% Mourvedre from yields of 20-22 hectoliters per hectare) is a soft effort, with black cherry, licorice, smoke, dried herb, and roasted meat aromas presented in a robust, flavorful format. Ideally, it should be given several years of cellaring, and is a candidate for 12-20 years of aging. This is a very impressive, unfiltered wine with a style not dissimilar from, but even more concentrated than some of the blockbuster vintages of Chateau de Fonsalette. Don't miss this exceptional wine! Importer: Peter Weygandt, Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, PA; tel (610) 486-0800
