The 2012 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Seguret Beau Nez comes from the estate’s finest hillside parcels below the well-known tourist attraction called the Dentelles de Montmirail (which dominate the neighboring appellation of Gigondas). This blend of 74% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 6% Carignan offers up roasted meat, Provencal herb/garrigue, jammy black cherry, dusty, loamy soil, balsam wood and licorice notes. This spicy, medium-bodied, silky textured beauty can be enjoyed over the next 3-4 years.
Both of these Soaves come from Cantina Filippi’s highest elevation vineyards. Both are stainless steel-fermented and aged with the single vineyard Vigna della Bra planted in predominantly limestone soils and aged 20 months in stainless steel on its lees (a surprisingly long time). The Castelcerino site is composed primarily of volcanic soils. Both are 100% Garganega, the indigenous Italian white varietal associated with Soave.
