The 2009 Simbolo is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Tinta Barroca, aged in a combination of French and American oak for 18 months. Easily the pick of the litter in the releases reviewed this issue, this is remarkably gracious and beautifully balanced. As it airs out, it shows some grip and intensity, always subtle and restrained, while remaining quite persistent. It is a debonair entrant into this lineup and simply hard to resist. Approachable now, it could use a little time to settle down. Drink 2013-2021. This winery has some nice offerings this issue at all levels, but it is hard to avoid calling special attention to the value wines – they performed very well at quite nice price points.Importer: HGC Imports, San Jose, CA.; tel.
