Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses had an odd bouquet, disjointed at first, a little reductive but coming together in the glass, though never fully conveying the joie-de-vivre of sumptuousness that you look for in this vineyard. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy, ripe dark berry and white pepper notes. It feels dense in the mouth and though it initially felt a little "predictable," I noticed how it rapidly meliorated in the glass and its nuances and mineralité began to be conveyed. It needs plenty of time. Tasted September 2016.
