A pure expression of Sangiovese, the 2011 Chianti Classico Riserva Torre a Destra is marked by the warm and sunny conditions of this hot growing season. You feel that power in the ripeness of the fruit. However, the wine is engineered with a mid-weight approach, and both the lean appearance and the mouthfeel showcase a carefully streamlined style. This hot vintage ends with sweet cherry confit and blackberry marmalade. That ripeness is a bit too much for my taste. Only 4,600 bottles were released.
