Here's a very savory and spicy Brunello that oozes darkness and thick barbecue smoke. The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva speaks to the power and integrity of this once-in-a-lifetime vintage from this picturesque hamlet town in southern Tuscany. Despite its masculine approach and brawn, La Collina dei Lecci delivers a balanced effort that presents the muscular side of Sangiovese. It shows some sharp edges in terms of texture and natural acidity. It will require a few more years of bottle aging before it softens up.
