One of the best-kept secrets of this domaine is the Ruchottes-Chambertin, normally the largest-scaled wine the Roumiers produce. In 1987 it has a profound earthy, cedary, cinnamon, ground beef and berry-scented bouquet. In the mouth, the wine is full bodied, very ripe, deep, and concentrated; it should be ready to drink by 1991-1992. It will not be long lived, but will certainly keep until 1999-2001.
