The 2001 Rosso Piceno Rosso Bello, with an energetic expansive nose of ripe fruit and mineral notes, offers much vibrant fruit in its fresh, continuous palate of good ripeness and sweetness. Le Caniette, along with Saldini Pilastri Saladino, has been the pioneering producer in the resurgence of the Rosso Piceno appellation, and the wines are among the best of the Marches. Interesting experiments with a variety of local grapes are going forward, but at the moment the best wines in the line are the various Montepulciano selections and the dessert wine. Drink: 2005-2010.
