Blueberries, blackberries, violets, and spices are found in the nose of the expansive 2000 Chambolle-Musigny. A delicious mouthful of fleshy fruit is what this wine is all about. What it lacks in complexity and depth it makes up for in generosity. Cherries, plums, and super-ripe blackberries make up its forward personality’s flavor profile. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.
The Lecheneaut brothers, Philippe and Vincent, have a distinct preference for the 2000s over the 2001s. According to them, “the acidity levels are higher in 2001 and the tannins had trouble ripening whereas in 2000 we had superb ripeness.”
