The top cuvee is the 2005 Brotte Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes. Deep ruby/purple with sweet black fruits intermixed with licorice, lavender, and incense, the wine is impressively concentrated, medium to full-bodied, and nicely structured and long. It should drink well for 10-15 years.
This old-line negociant firm is owned by Alain Brotte. I hadn’t tasted their wines in a number of years, and I was pleasantly surprised how well they showed.
