While it is hardly a monster, Norman's 1996 offering is a robust, full-bodied, quasi-late harvest style of wine. The saturated dark ruby color is followed by heady scents of earth and black fruits, as well as a whiff of volatile acidity (vinegar). In the mouth, the wine is jammy, with 14.5% alcohol, and fresh, tart acidity. A chunky, slight coarse, but extremely flavorful Zinfandel, it should be drunk over the next 2-3 years.Tel. (805) 237-0138
