This impressive offering, the first I have tasted from this high-altitude vineyard, performed exceptionally well.
The deep ruby/purple-colored 1997 Chianti Classico Riserva Lucarello reveals an international personality, with copious quantities of spicy new oak, black currants, strawberries, and cherries, dense, ripe, medium to full-bodied flavors, adequate acidity, and a plush, nicely layered, sweetly tannic finish. It should drink well for 7-8 years.
