Tasted at the Armagh Hut with Sam and Tom Barry, the 2012 The Florita Riesling has a really melodic sway of fruit in the mouth. This has back-palate density and line, almost breadth—it’s mouthfilling and good, plump almost. Savory nut-skin phenolics curve through the finish. 2012 was cool, with good hang time and residual water in the soils from 2011. The vines were in good nick.

I tasted every vintage of the Florita Riesling made since the first 2004 vintage, except 2006 when none was made. The 2012 The Florita Riesling is very forward and expressive on the nose and exudes grapefruit with some jasmine and orange blossom notes. Crisp and drinking nicely, it has quite an attractive weight in the mouth before finishing long with some mineral flavors. Drink it now to 2024+. Importer: Negociants USA, Napa, CA; tel.
