The 1993 Cohn Vineyard Pinot Noir reveals a medium ruby color with some lightening at the edge. The nose offers up moderately intense aromas of earth, herbs, berry fruit, and new oak. With an attractive supple texture, good concentration, adequate acidity, and noticeable alcohol and oak in the finish, this round Pinot should drink well for 3-4 years.
The Williams-Selyem winery has long been a reference point for complex, sumptuous Pinot Noir. That being said, I thought the 1993s possessed a degree of herbaceousness and higher acidity than previous releases. As an unabashed fan of this winery's Pinot Noir, I must admit to being uninspired by the 1993s.
