The 2020 Hecklinger Schlossberg Baden Sp?tburgunder GG opens with deep, smoky, very clear and perfectly ripe fruit. On the palate, it is enormously vital, powerful, intense and fresh, with a complex and extremely persistent finish. Unfortunately served too warm. Tasted in Wiesbaden, August 2022.

The 2018 (Hecklingen) Schlossberg Sp?tburgunder GG is intense and nicely reductive (burnt rubber) on the pure and refreshing yet well-concentrated and elegant nose, which displays red berry, cherry and crushed stone aromas yet needs a lot of air to show its true talents. Silky textured, fresh and very delicate on the first palate, this is a highly tensioned, vital and sustainably structured Pinot with grip, great expression and promising vitality. This is one of the finest Pinot Noirs I tasted on the preview in Wiesbaden in August 2020.

The 2017 (Hecklingen) Schlossberg Sp?tburgunder GG opens with a pure, deep and fine, aromatic but also flinty/stony bouquet of black berries and crushed stones. Silky, lush and generous on the palate, this is a remarkably vital and tensioned Pinot with concentration, grip and very fine, crumbly tannins. The finish is long, fresh and tensioned, with lots of energy. Tasted in Wiesbaden in August 2019.

A hint of rosemary lifts the cherry and blackberry fruit in this tightly wound version. Hints of juniper and licorice emerge midpalate, while lively acidity imparts energy and focus. The 2016 Hecklinger Schlossberg Sp?tburgunder GG is deep, pure and intense on the spicy and mineral-flavored nose, where black currant and underwood notes are displayed and interwoven with delicate licorice flavors. Smooth and gentle on the palate but pure, lush and concentrated, this is a highly vital and finessed Pinot Noir with generous, lush and charming fruit, fine, silky tannins and a lingering mineral freshness. The finish is very long and aromatic and reveals an impressive intensity. Tasted in Wiesbaden in August 2018.
