Wines from the granite-heavy Gallura area always show a pronounced mineral character with crushed stone and linear fruit aromas. These characteristics certainly apply here. No oak is used here. An ample 90,000 bottles were made.

The 2014 Vermentino di Gallura Superiore Sciala represents a selection of the estate's best fruit and shows loads of inner intensity and juiciness. It opens to layers of citrus, peach, pear, wild sage and Mediterranean brush. The acidity is bright and spicy on the finish.

Spicy and super zesty in the mouth, the 2013 Vermentino di Gallura Superiore Sciala is redolent of white flower, peach jasmine and dried ginger. Vermentino sometimes has a sage-like edginess and this wine delivers that quality in spades. If you like crisp whites to pair with fried fish, this is a perfect choice. The wine rests on its lees for five months with battonage and this process helps to add dimension and thickness on the finish.
