Made mostly from purchased fruit, the 2017 Pinot Noir is pale to medium ruby in the glass and has a spicy nose of roasted cranberries, rhubarb, fresh pomegranate and Bing cherries with notes of dried herbs, dried flowers and garrigue. Light to medium-bodied, the palate is delicate and restrained, with pleasant amaro and orange-peel-like bitterness, a firm, lightly chalky texture and seamless freshness, finishing spiced.

The 2016 Pinot Noir is a pretty representation of the Santa Cruz Mountains, offering up aromas of wild cherries, forest floor and subtle bay laurel. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, supple and bright, with crisp acids and a crunchy core of vibrant fruit. Enjoy it now or for the better part of a decade.

The 2015 Pinot Noir is very attractive, offering up notes of ripe plum, blackberries and coniferous forest floor, followed by a sappy, medium-bodied palate with an ample core of fruit and gently chalky structuring tannins. It's a touch riper and more outgoing than its 2016 counterpart, at least at this early stage, and I liked its additional generosity.

A lively, fresh, floral, peppery and berry-fruited effort, the 2014 Pinot Noir Santa Cruz Mountains (one-third whole cluster) from the team at Fogarty is medium-bodied, elegant and impeccably put together. It opens up nicely with time in the glass, has nicely integrated acidity and clean, classy feel that will drink nicely for 4-5 years.

A killer value, there’s roughly 4,000 cases of the 2013 Pinot Noir from the Santa Cruz Mountains, and it saw 33% whole clusters and 11 months in 20% new French oak. Coming mostly from purchased fruit from a number of sites, it has lots of whole cluster notes of pepper, violets and spice to go with upfront, lively notes of black cherries and black raspberry. Medium-bodied, elegant and already delicious, drink it over the coming 4-5 years.
