The finest Pinot in this portfolio is the moderately ruby-hued 2003 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard. It possesses a beautiful nose of raspberries, strawberries, and hints of mint and forest floor. Elegant and medium-bodied with crisp, tart acidity, a touch of toasty oak, and a spicy, long finish, it can be enjoyed over the next 4-5 years. Tel. (408) 354-6150

This is, shall we say, a voluminous Pinot, the kind this vineyard produces regularly. It’s dark, full-bodied and rich in black and red berry fruit, with fresh acidity. We now know that a Pisoni Pinot like this will improve in the cellar. Best to let it be until 2008.——S.H.(11/15/2005)—— 92

The murky dense ruby-colored 2000 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard displays atypically (for this vineyard) subdued aromas. However, in the mouth, notes of sweet, gamy, black cherry, raspberry and currant fruit display a smoky, autumnal, foresty character. There are also loads of berry fruit, glycerin, and body, and it appears it is only a matter of time until the nose explodes from this Pinot. It should drink well for 6-7 years. Tel. (408) 354-6150

Starts off with deceptively simple aromas of cherries, toast and vanilla that broaden on the palate to encompass root vegetable and floral notes. The layered mouthfeel makes it go down easily, capped off by hints of coffee and caramel on the finish.——W.E.(10/1/2002)—— 92
