The 2007 Syrah Tierra Alta reveals a similar dark ruby/purple color in addition to more scorched earth, blackberry, licorice, and bacon fat notes, excellent density, but not the breadth or expansiveness of the other single vineyard Syrahs. The 2006 Syrah Tierra Alta Vineyard. Its dark ruby color is followed by a gamy, peppery, earthy bouquet reminiscent of a northern Rhone. In the mouth, French-styled flavors of roasted herbs, pepper, earth, black currants, cassis, and meat, soft tannins, and modest alcohol make for an impressive red to drink now and over the next 6-7 years.
