Red-fruited with classic expressions of sweet bell pepper and hints of sage, the 2019 Cabernet Franc offers aromas of plums, sweet oak tones of vanilla and baked earth. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is focused and precise, delivering a sincere expression of Cabernet Franc with succulent acidity and fine-grained tannins that linger through the food-friendly finish.

The 2017 Cabernet Franc has aromas of dried red fruit and wilted red flower with a soft dustiness. Medium-bodied and spicy on the palate, the fruit expressions take a backseat, leaving me wanting more complexity. It concludes as an uncomplicated quaffer with a straightforward finish that lingers with a tannic edge. 1,176 cases produced.

A good value, the 2014 Cabernet Franc (100% Cabernet Franc aged in 30% new French oak) is a medium-bodied, pretty, beautifully pure 2014 that has forward notes of plums, blackberry liqueur, wildflowers and spice. It falls off on the finish, but has plenty to like.

A fantastic effort that also represents a smoking value, the 2012 Cabernet Franc boast thrilling notes of violets, wild flowers, black raspberry and mulberry styled fruits to go with a medium to full-bodied, voluptuously textured style on the palate. Showing the purity and focus of the vintage, this beauty will have over a decade of prime drinking. This is another solid lineup by the team at Tamarack Cellars. While not up to the 2010, the 2011 Cabernet Franc is nevertheless rock solid and a good value. Made from 100% Cabernet Franc and aged in 20% new oak, with the balance mostly 2-3 years old barrels, it is a big, voluptuous and softly textured effort that has beautiful fruit, excellent complexity and a medium to full-bodied, mouth-filling texture. Hard to resist, it should have 4-5 years of evolution. Drink now-2018. Located in Walla Walla and founded in 1998 by Ron and Jamie Colman, with the wines now made by Danny Gordon, this first-rate estate fashions classic, age-worthy wines that over deliver for the price. While I tasted the majority of the bottled wines in Colorado, all of the reserve efforts were tasted from barrel during my visit to the winery.
