Fermented in French Oak, 20% new, and aged in oak for 9 months, the 2009 Tamar Ridge Kayena Vineyard Pinot Noir has a medium-purple color and moderately intense notes of red cherries and raspberries over nuances of forest floor, black truffle and black pepper. The earthy / red fruit flavors fill the mouth, nicely supported by high acid and a medium level of grainy tannins. The finish is long and peppery. Drinking now, it should cellar to 2015.
