Aged in 50% new French oak, the 2019 Sophia Lynn Petite Sirah boasts nearly impenetrable color and aromas. On the day I tasted it, it was closed down rather tight, or just mute, like Petite Sirah can sometimes be, murmuring just suggestions of blackberries, pine boughs and Christmas spice. This is full-bodied and richly tannic but ripe, offering intriguing aging possibilities.
