The vineyard is in Calistoga, the vines are fairly old, and you can taste the concentration that low yield has squeezed into the grapes. Summers has produced two impressive Zinfandels from their Villa Andriana Vineyard. The 2004 is slightly more up-front, fruity, and elegant than the 2003 boasting a deep ruby/purple-tinged color as well as a sweet nose of black raspberries, cherries, licorice, and spice. With medium body, surprising elegance for this varietal, supple tannin, and fine integration of wood, it should drink well for 3-5 years. Tel. (707) 942-5508
