The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve comes across as rather four squared, with limited expressiveness in its dark red fruit and equally little varietal or regional typicity. The dark plum/ruby/purple-tinged 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve offers aromas of scorched earth, loamy soil, black currants, plums and licorice. Medium to full-bodied and relatively structured for a 2007 Cabernet, it comes from the northern tier of hillside vineyards in the Calistoga appellation.
