The 2009 ‘Chill Me Red Fred’ Shiraz has a medium garnet-purple color and notes of red currant, red cherry, cassis and Mediterranean herbs with a whiff of black pepper. Light to medium-bodied with a barely notable suggestion of sweetness (5 grams per liter of residual sugar), the fruit profile, crisp acid and low to medium level of fine tannins indeed make this wine ideal for chilling, though it’s also nice at cellar temperature. Drink it now to 2012. Importer: Ronnie Sanders, Vine Street Imports, Philadelphia, PA; www.vsimports.com
