The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon “Secret Reserve - Sod” is a small step up on the Merlot reviewed this issue. Not quite as gracious, it is, however, fuller in the mouth, adding a layer of depth and considerably more power. The tinge of oak is slightly more, but not intrusive. I held this open for a couple of hours. It benefited greatly from about 45 minutes of air. It did not show as well in an hour or two, flattening pretty quickly. Still elegant and quite charming, this is a wine that will be approachable early, but will probably not turn into anything particularly complex with cellaring. Drink now-2018. Although Shiloh is normally imported by Royal Wine, a Kosher specialist, note that these wines will not be as they are all from 2008 – a Shmitta year.
