The 2007 PETITE SYRAH “SECRET RESERVE” actually has 10% Cabernet Sauvignon added in, all grapes sourced from a high altitude vineyard 670 meters above sea level and aged for 16 months in 2 year old French oak. Rather charming, nicely constructed, with a serious backbone and a touch of vanilla up front, this elegant and focused wine shows nicely, but needs a little time to settle down. It has some finesse and intensity. This is a pretty nice performance with this grape, pointed and penetrating. It would easily be my pick of this winery’s releases this issue. There were 3,178 bottles produced. Drink now-2017. Importer: Royal Wine Corp., Bayonne, N.J.; tel: (718) 534-0118.
