The 2018 Sp?tburgunder Kirchberg GG is intense yet pure and fresh, well-concentrated and aromatic, with thick-skinned cherry, grape berry and some fresh plummy aromas along with notes of tea leaves. On the palate, this is a very rich and generous, powerful and sweetish, concentrated and grippy Pinot that has all the warmth and ripeness of the vintage but also the winemaking skills of Konrad Salwey, who successfully worked against the heat. The wine has really good tension yet isn't what Salwey normally expresses with his Pinots. I'm looking forward to the 2017 and 2019 Pinots, which will be released later. The 2017 Sp?tburgunder Kirchberg GG is deep, pure, fresh and and toasty on the nose that displays cherry and wild red berry aromas. Round and intense on the palate, this is a full-bodied, intense and juicy Pinot with fine tannins yet still quite prominent oak influence. Very intense and persistent on the finish. Tasted in May 2020.

The 2016 Kirchberg Sp?tburgunder GG is still reductive but pure and fresh on the nose, offering green beans and peas on the nose intermixed with leafy notes of red berries. The palate is intense, pure and fresh, very tight and tensioned, with good grip and enough juice and fruit to live a decade or more. It is wonderfully refined and floral on the aftertaste. Tasted in Wiesbaden in August 2019.

Konrad Salwey's 2015 Kirchberg Sp?tburgunder GG has a quite bright ruby-garnet color and delivers some Mediterranean herbal flavors to the nose, which displays ripe red fruit with floral notes. Lush and fresh on the palate, this is a juicy, round and refined Pinot with good concentration, tension and mineral freshness in the finish. Remarkable acidity. Still very young but with capacities. Tasted August 2018.
