The 2007 Syrah Rosella’s Vineyard offers a dense black/purple color, a beautiful, sweet nose of spring flowers, espresso roast, cassis, blackberries, bouquet garni, charcoal, and earth, fabulous fruit, a full-bodied mouthfeel, sweet but noticeable tannin, and an exceptionally long, textured, plush finish. Drinking beautifully already, it should develop even more over the next 2-3 years. Enjoy it during its first decade of life. Two tremendous Syrah offerings from Roar are about as good as one can find in New World Syrah. The two cuvees reveal minor differences, with the Garys’ Vineyard having a slight edge in terms of more floral notes in the aromas, and, therefore, slightly more compelling interest. However, that’s splitting hairs at this level of quality.Tel. (831) 675-1681; Fax (831) 675-1683
