Using the same blend of 70% Cabernet Franc and 30% Merlot as seen in previous vintages, the 2017 Bolgheri Cassiopea is a rosato that resembles a white wine in terms of freshness and ease. The goal in making this was to achieve a fresh, tonic and vibrant result. To manage ripeness, the grapes were harvested early and the leaves were kept on the vines in order to provide more shade. This wine was born during a nighttime harvest on the 16th of August. There is more acidity here compared to past editions. That freshness makes for an easy-drinking wine, with nice mineral tones on the close. The wine's color is very pale, delicate and beautiful. Some 30,000 bottles were made.
