Packaged in one of the most beautiful white wine bottles to come from Italy, the Frescobaldi 2019 Pomino Bianco Castello Pomino is a historic blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco from the high-altitude vineyards of the cool Pomino subzone. This vintage is extra crisp and sharp with plenty of pear, white peach and Golden Delicious apple to emerge from the bouquet. There are light hints of saffron, yellow rose and honey that add dimension and texture to the finish. This is a treat.

Made primarily from Chardonnay with some Pinot Bianco, the 2013 Pomino Bianco Castello di Pomino does not live up to the reputation of past vintages. This is usually a wine that I enjoy with salads or grilled fish, but the 2013 vintage feels thin and weak. It shows big luminosity and pretty mineral definition on the close. The delivery is short and to-the-point with no extra bells or whistles.
