The 2016 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Millandes was showing quite a bit of reduction on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, more saline than the Faconnières, sappy in the mouth with blackberry and raspberry fruit on the structured finish. Give this two or three years in bottle. At the moment, I prefer the Faconnières.

The 2015 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Millandes was matured in 33% new oak with 25% whole bunch fruit. It has an upfront, quite bold bouquet with plenty of black fruit - dark cherries, bilberry and hints of wilted violet mixed with incense. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and well-judged acidity. I appreciate the focus here and the sappiness that comes through on the finish when the risk was pushing this too far. This comes recommended.

The 2013 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru les Millandes, which only sees 1 and 2-year old wood, has a fragrant bouquet with brambly red berry fruit and woodland scents, nicely defined and expressive. The palate is sweet on the entry with sappy red fruit, a nice touch of spice with moderate weight o the chewy finish. Fine.
