The 2018 Nierstein Bergkirche Riesling Kabinett is precise and flinty on the stimulating nose. Light and watery on the palate, this Riesling is piquant and grippy on the palate—more grippy and refreshing than substantial or even vinous. It was bottled in June last year with 11% alcohol and 25 grams of residual sugar. A bit too sweet on the aftertaste for my personal taste. Tasted in May 2020.

The 2015 Nierstein Bergkirche Riesling Kabinett has an intense nose and opens with a gorgeously ripe, tropical fruit aroma. This is a mouthful of lush, lively and piquant Riesling that drinks like a Sp?tlese. The 13% alcohol comes along on wide wings thanks to the vivacious acidity. If you called it a super round and sexy Riesling, I'd be fully d'accord.

A decadent, extroverted style, with sweet flowers, overripe apricots and a honeysuckle character that is saved from being cloying by a shining streak of acidity. Try with Malaysian food. Drink now to 2014. ——W.E.(6/1/2010)—— 86
