The 1999 James Berry Vineyard (a blend of 40% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 30% Mourvedre) achieved 14.6% alcohol, and was bottled after seventeen months in French and Hungarian oak, of which 40% was new. Its knock-out nose of explosive red and black fruits is followed by lush, ripe, fleshy, full-bodied, deep, rich, chewy, pure flavors. It is a sensational introduction to this winery's style. Consume it over the next 5-6 years. Tel. (805) 227-0797
